The Forth Postal Summit between Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao

The Forth Postal Summit between Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao was held on 7th December, 2021. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ma Junsheng, Director of the State Post Bureau took place in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao via video conference. Mr. Liu Aili, Chairman of the China Post Group Corporation Limited, Ms. Dai Shu Rao, Postmaster General of Hong Kong Post and Ms. Lau Wai Meng, Director of the Macau Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) attended the meeting and presented respectively. The meeting covered topics on recommended measures to promote postal sector development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, cooperation between Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, opportunities and challenges confronted by the postal industry in the context of cross-border e-commerce. In addition, participants shared policies and best practices for the green development of the postal industry.

 

During the meeting, Ms. Lau Wai Meng, Director of CTT said that in addition to actively participated in the Universal Postal Union, Asia-Pacific Postal Union and other regional postal organizations, CTT also maintained close and smooth communications with the State Post Bureau, China Post Group Corporation Limited and Hong Kong Post.

 

The Summit concluded successfully and three consensuses were reached:

Firstly, to ensure the principle of “One country, Two systems”, “Patriots administer Hong Kong” and “Patriots administer Macao”. Based on the Summit mechanism, cooperation, policy coordination, resources sharing and mutual complementarity of advantages will be enhanced, high-quality development of the postal industry between Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao will be reached.

Secondly, to reinforce the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao postal innovation and cooperation, to expand the international postal network, to enhance information technology, to create high-level cross-border e-commerce services and to fulfill the demand of the people for the postal services in these areas.

Thirdly, to persevere low-carbon and green development initiative, to cooperate in research, to participate under the UPU framework of greenhouse gas emissions and proactively respond to the ecological and environmental challenges.

 

In addition to the aforementioned leaders of the postal organizations in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, executive from corresponding departments in these organizations also attended the meeting.
